SARCC Announces new President/CEO
August 17, 2017–After an extensive nationwide search, the Sexual Assault Resource and Counseling Center of Lebanon and Schuylkill Counties (SARCC) Board of Directors announce the appointment of Ms. Alissa Mailen Perrotto as the new President/CEO beginning on September 18th, 2017.
Anthony Miller, President of the Board of Directors said, “Ali’s education, experience, and passion for sexual assault prevention are exactly what is needed to continue the vision and mission of SARCC.”
Ali started her professional career at SARCC as the Children’s Advocate in the Lebanon County office after graduating from The University of Scranton with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Science Economics. It was here that she began building relationships within the community, as well as providing direct service to clients who were impacted by sexual trauma.
Ali then expanded her mission of ending sexual violence through her roles at the National Sexual Violence Resource Center and most recently with the Pennsylvania Coalition Against Rape. While employed at the national and state level she was awarded her Master’s Degree from Pennsylvania State University in 2013. It was through these positions that she has experienced many models of sexual assault centers to bring a breadth of perspective in providing quality and quantity of care to victims of sexual assault in her new role as SARCC’s President/CEO.
“Ms. Perrotto is going to be ready to serve with minimal transition her first day. She knows the organization and the communities we serve. She brings a plethora of experiences with clients, community activism, and nonprofit management that will benefit SARCC as we move forward,” stated Christine Verdier, Search Committee Chair and Vice President of the Board of Directors.
SARCC is a well-established and highly regarded provider of rape crisis/sexual assault services within Lebanon and Schuylkill Counties. Established in 1983, SARCC has been using its voice to create a dialogue that increases awareness of sexual abuse, shatter myths that contribute to a rape culture and provide counsel and support to the more than 16,000 individuals who have turned to SARCC for healing. Moreover, SARCC works within schools and youth-serving civic organizations to provide evidence-based programming that seeks to advance a culture of civility, respect, and healthy, safe relationships. Ultimately, SARCC’s goal is to engage all members and segments of our community in working towards a solution that leads to the prevention of sexual violence across Lebanon and Schuylkill Counties.
SARCC’s Board of Directors worked with SCORE Lebanon/Lancaster in the search for the replacement for Jenny Murphy-Shifflet. Murphy-Shifflet is the first President/CEO at SARCC. She is retiring after 29 years of leadership at SARCC.
