PRESS RELEASE: FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LFHS, SARCC celebrate joint anniversary with noted speaker

Two local nonprofit organizations have once again joined forces to ring in landmark anniversary years. Lebanon Family Health Services (LFHS) and the Sexual Assault Resource and Counseling Center (SARCC) have provided a combined 80 years of quality, life-saving services to the community. The two organizations are also celebrating 15 years of working together through The Alliance Project, which brought a state of the art building to Downtown Lebanon and a shared home for the two organizations.

To celebrate this year of achievement, the agencies will host a joint annual dinner on April 10 at the Lebanon Country Club. Dr. Rachel Levine, the newly confirmed Secretary of Health for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, will speak at the event.

“Dr. Levine was our first choice as a speaker for this event,” said Kim Kreider Umble, CEO of LFHS, “Her experience as a medical provider and advocate for underserved communities will allow our organizations to honor our rich histories of service to the community.

“We’re pleased to host a joint event that highlights our themes for this year-long celebration,” said Ali Mailen Perrotto, CEO of SARCC. Anniversary events have centered on the overlapping work accomplished by SARCC and LFHS: preventing, healing, connecting, and thriving.

LFHS was founded in 1973 and has provided affordable healthcare, education, and support services to underserved populations in Lebanon County. In addition to maternal and infant care, reproductive health, and WIC enrollment, they’ve recently expanded to provide Convenient Care and Primary Care, as well as physicals and drug screening services to the community. In their 45 years of service, LFHS has grown to provide over 50,000 visits annually.

SARCC, a nonprofit organization providing no-cost counseling, groups, advocacy, and prevention education on sexual violence, is celebrating its 35th anniversary. In 2009 SARCC expanded its geographic region to serve survivors of sexual violence in Schuylkill County. They’ve recently expanded their programming to include trauma-focused therapy for children. SARCC provides a 24-hour support line for survivors of sexual violence and their friends and family. Call 717-273-5308 to connect with a counselor.

To purchase tickets for the event, contact Vicki Deloatch at 717-273-8893 or vicki@lebanonfamilyhealth.org or visit the websites for either organization: sarcclebanon.org or lebanonfamilyhealth.org.
